Above all else, students are expected to treat all faculty members and other students with respect. Disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated.
In regards to behavior, students are expected to abide by all behavior guidelines as outlined in the school discipline plan (located in the agenda book). This includes being ready to learn and being ready to help us to create an atmosphere of learning in our classroom.
Students are expected to arrive to class with all necessary materials. In order to be successful, students must be actively engaged in both individual and collaborative work, participating to the fullest extent.
ALWAYS TRY YOUR BEST!
Math, and life in general, can sometimes be an uphill climb. I am here to make that climb easier. However, all students must be willing to give me 100% effort in order to succeed. I am willing to give 100% effort as your teacher. You are expected to do the same.
CLASS MATERIALS NEEDED (DAILY!)
If you are absent from class, you are expected to make up missed work. Please check the class website to see what assignments need to be completed. You will have as many days as you were absent to complete your assignments. It may be necessary to complete some of the missed assignments as homework in order to keep up with the pace of the class.
Several class assignments, homework, and assessments will require the use of student iPads. Students are expected to abide by all the school's iPad and internet usage guidelines. Failure to do so may result in suspended iPad privileges.
Tests – 40%
Mid-Unit Quizzes – 30%
Lesson / Weekly Quizzes – 20%
Homework Grades – 10%
Mastery of math concepts comes with practice. Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis. The majority of homework will be online, however there may be occasions where paper homework is assigned. Online homework will be due by 11:59 pm on Thursday evenings. Late homework will be accepted with a penalty of 5 points per day until a score of 60%. Failure to complete homework will result in students being assigned Bobcat Lunch Bunch.
WEEKLY QUIZZES (20%)
Weekly quizzes will be given each Friday. These quizzes are designed to assist students in maintaining mastery of previously covered skills as well as a few questions on the skills we are currently covering. Students will be given a study guide each Monday. The study guide is due every Wednesday and students will be quizzed over the material each Friday.
MID-UNIT QUIZZES (30%)
Mid-unit quizzes, designed to prepare the students for larger assessments, will be given throughout each 9 weeks. These quizzes will generally contain more questions than the weekly quizzes and will focus on current material. Study guides will be given in advance of the mid-unit quizzes.
Tests will be given at the end of each unit and will cover all sections of the unit. The dates of these tests will be announced in advance. Students will be given a study guide in advance of the test.
